Henry uses a combination of tools to further clean up the rough casting and to ensure that the intricate details are perfectly smooth. Some of the tools include: a felt polishing wheel, file, bristle brush, and muslin buff.

To ensure the platinum is malleable and easier to work with, Henry anneals the metal.

Annealing involves heating the platinum to a specific temperature and then allowing it to cool gradually. This process relieves any internal stresses caused by the casting process.

Castings come out with a smooth but matte surface finish, and require significant hand work to bring out the perfect finish.
